Spc. Omar Soltero entered rest on Monday, January 31, 2011 while on active duty in Afghanistan. He was 28 years old. Since August, 2000, he proudly served in the 1-32 Infantry, 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, NY. He served briefly in the Army National Guard prior to returning to active duty with the 2-4th Infantry, 10th Mountain Division, at Fort Polk, LA. Omar is survived by his loving fiancé, Stephanie Steele; his beloved sons Ethan and Alan Soltero; his proud parents, Gustavo and Maria Soltero; his brothers, Ricardo and Adrian Soltero; his sister Maria Alviso and many other loving family members. Visitation will be held from 4:00pm-9:00pm on Wednesday, February 9, 2011 and on Thursday, February 10, 2011 from 9:00am-9:00pm with an evening funeral services at 6:00pm at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. A procession will depart Sunset Funeral Chapel on Friday, February 11, 2011 at 11:30am for a 12:00pm graveside services at Fort Sam Houston with full military honors.
