Milton E. (Al) Allison, Jr. went to the Lord on November 18th. Born in Houston, Texas, he was the only child of Milton and Elsie (Futch) Allison. His formative years were spent in San Antonio on Morningside Drive where the family moved shortly after his birth. There he had wonderful memories such as driving Model T's around the neighborhood.
After graduating high school at Texas Military Institute (TMI), he attended Trinity University and then graduated from the University of Corpus Christi. While in Corpus, he also helped to manage family owned PICO Lures.
Upon returning to San Antonio, he followed his father into the family business, M. E. Allison & Company, an investment banking and brokerage firm, where he enjoyed a career spanning seven decades.
He was an avid golfer from an early age and continued to play throughout his life. Two particular highlights were winning the San Antonio Country Club Men's Championship in 1956 and the Father-Son Tournament in 1991. He also had fond memories of playing golf with his cousin, Sam Jenkins, in the annual member-guest tournament, No Le Hace.
In 1967, he married the love of his life, Brooke (Rumsey). They enjoyed many happy years together full of family gatherings and holidays, travel around the world, time with friends, and dining out (esp. at La Fonda on Broadway).
He is survived by his wife Brooke, son Christopher and his wife Anita, son Bennett and his wife Monica, six beloved grandchildren Robert, Elizabeth, Katie, Abby, Caroline, and Lilly, and other relatives and friends too numerous to mention. He will be deeply missed.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Parklane West, Vitas Healthcare (esp. Andy), and AA Care Services along with Lupe Mojica, Lonnie White, and Mary Renteria for the loving care they provided over the last several years. We are also deeply appreciative to the friends Brooke & Al shared over the years, for the lunch outings they attended in more recent years as getting out became more difficult, and for their gracious visits to see Al at Parklane West.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 30th at Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home (1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218). In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Animal Defense League of Texas.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.sunsetfuneralhomesa.com for the Allison family.
