It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mauricio (Wicho) Gonzales, who left us on June 19, 2024 at the age of 76. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather and great grandfather.
Mauricio Gonzales was born on July 6, 1947 in San Antonio, Texas to Apolonio and Hortencia Gonzales. He proudly served our country in the US Army from 1965 to 1968. When he returned home, he married the love of his life, Beatrice Gonzales, on September 27, 1969. Together, they built a life filled with unconditional love and wonderful memories. Mauricio was also a dedicated father, grandfather and great grandfather always putting family first and providing unwavering support and guidance.
He is preceded in death by his father, Apolonio Gonzales; his mother, Hortencia Gonzales; brother Felix Diaz; sister, Yolanda Carrizales; and grandson, Jesse M. Rodriguez.
He is survived by his wife, Beatrice Gonzales; daughters, Lyllian (Thomas), Marisa (Jesse) and Elisha; grandsons, Anthony and Christopher; granddaughter, Gabriella, special granddaughter, Mary; great grandsons Ezekiel and Elliot and great granddaughter Layla; Brothers, Valdomero Carrizales, Francisco (Aurora) Gonzales and Apolonio (Beatrice) Gonzales; and numerous other brothers and sisters in law, nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
We will forever cherish the memories of Mauricio and the impact he had on our lives. He will always be, "10 feet tall and bulletproof. God couldn't make a man any tougher and that "S" on his chest will never fade," we will always remember him that way.
