November 3, 1938 to February 19, 2016
Mary Schneider was born in San Antonio to Joseph A. and Gertrude Mapes Brown on November 3, 1938. She was a lifelong resident of San Antonio, spending the majority of her career in the real estate industry where she was well known and regarded as an expert in the field. She was a graduate of Providence High School and attended Our Lady of the Lake University. A devout Catholic, she devoted countless hours and effort in support of many of the ministries of St. Brigid’s Catholic Church, several convents and the archdiocese. Her life’s pleasures were her grandchildren, traveling and festive gatherings at her home.
The family would like to thank all of the many friends in the St. Brigid’s community who helped her out over the last few years; including Robert Tovar and Suzanne Celaya & Alfredo and Teresa Cooke and a multitude of others in the community. Additionally, the family would like to thank Fr. Pete McKenna and Fr. Jonathan Felux and the many nurses, technicians, and doctors in the ICU and Critical Care area on the fifth floor of University Hospital who worked tirelessly to make her last days compassionate, caring and comfortable.
Mary was predeceased by husband Charles Schneider, her parents and brother Art Brown. She is survived by sons Joe (Melissa) Schneider and John (Susan) Schneider. Her grandchildren: Cole (Hunter), Trevor, Zoe, Beth (Ryan) and Amy, her brother Joe A. Brown, sister-in-law Loretta Brown, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A rosary will be held at St Brigid’s Catholic Church on March 7, 2016 at 10:00 am, followed immediately by a funeral mass and celebration of life at the church.
At her request, all are asked to wear bright colors and have smiles on their faces. Interment at the Cordi-Marian Sisters Resurrection Cemetery will be private at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Brigid’s Student Ministries, or to the Catholic related charity of your choice.
