It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Sharon Mullins Mills, who left us on August 9, 2024, in San Antonio, TX. Born on May 24, 1939, in Oklahoma City, OK, Sharon lived a life filled with love, compassion, and an unwavering dedication to her family.
Sharon was the cherished daughter of Ruth Reagan and Clyde Dameron. Her parents moved to San Antonio, TX when she was a small child where she lived for the remainder of her life. Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, her brother William Ralph (Bill) Dameron, and her nephew Christopher Dameron.
Sharon graduated from Harlandale High School in 1957. Before graduating, she uncovered a talent as a cheerleader that became a lifelong passion to cheer on and serve others. After high school, Sharon married and became a mother to her son, Mark, and 3 years later to her son, Kevin. She was a perfect “boy mom” and encouraged them in all their endeavors. She always said her greatest achievements started and ended with her sons. Sharon began her working career at Ft. Sam Houston, where she not only worked full time while raising 2 boys, but also earned her associates degree from San Antonio College. She changed career paths and joined the team at La Quinta where she worked for many years, maintaining life long relationships with co-workers and clients. Remaining in hotel hospitality, she later worked for the St. Anthony Hotel and Red Roof Inn.
Sharon’s love story with her soulmate, Bill Mills, was one for the ages. They met on the tennis court, a sport the entire family enjoyed. She and Bill married on January 25, 1992 and spent a wonderful life together enjoying tennis, dancing, friends, and travel. She always felt blessed to have traveled throughout the United States, Mexico, South America, Europe and Asia. She lived and loved large! Her greatest joy was her family to whom she gave complete devotion. Sharon and Bill were long time members of Community Bible Church in San Antonio where she volunteered for many years in the nursery, and later in the CBC bookstore. Her strength in her faith restored and sustained her in her battle with Leukemia. Sharon is survived by her devoted husband Bill, who stood by her side through every joy and every struggle. Her legacy continues through her sons, Mark Edward Mullins (Susan) and Kevin Todd Mullins (Nadia), who both inherited her spirit and compassion. Sharon also leaves behind her beloved stepdaughters, Lynneva Zahn, Pamela Isaacson, and Patricia Demas, as well as her stepson, Eric Lee Mills Warwick (Jodi). Her extended family included her nephew and niece, Eric Dameron (Jennifer) and Tiffany Henderson (Johnny), who held a special place in her heart.
Sharon was a proud grandmother to Andria Mullins Scarbrough (Daniel), Georgia Mullins Redding (Dylan), Chase Mullins, Tanner Mullins, Brandon Fuller (Tyler), Rachel Miller (Keith), Doralilia De La Pena, Nadia De La Pena, Sandy De La Pena, Taylor and Chelsea Zahn, and Tess Zahn Magnat (Matthew). She was also blessed with seven great-grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and she cherished each moment spent with them.
Sharon’s life was a testament to the power of love, family, and resilience. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the loving care given to Sharon at the Methodist Hospital and Vitas Hospice Center.
Rest in peace, dear Sharon. Your love and legacy will endure forever.
