Mary Ellen Chavez passed away on Friday, September 29, 2017 at the age of 81. She was born on May 11, 1936 to Rudolpho and Mary Louise (Vann) Rodriguez in San Antonio, TX. She is preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving daughters: Michelle Ann Chavez, Yvette Marie Smith (Charles); grandchildren: Charles Mitchell Smith, Jonah Matthew Smith, Vann Morgan Smith, Ava Marie Smith, and sister: Mary Louise Esparza. Mary Ellen loved the Lord and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She was a proud grandmother who loved and adored her four grandchildren with all of her heart. She was a proud member of the Red Hatters Society and was very involved in the Fox Tech High School Alumni group. She loved all sports but was especially a big basketball fan, her favorite team was the one and only San Antonio Spurs. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will begin on Friday, October 6, 2017 from 6pm to 9pm with a Prayer Service to begin at 7pm at Sunset Funeral Home.
