Maria Louisa Walker passed away peacefully at the age of 91 in Round Rock, Texas on February 16, 2021. She was born on February 25, 1929 in Cuba to Moisos Pianetta and Isabel Cordero, and was raised in Panama. Maria was preceded in death by her loving husband of 37 years, Paul R. Walker.
She is survived by her four children Ivonne Tappin, Rosanna Price, Steven Price, and Linda Malesky; her nine grandchildren Ralph L Beckford Jr, Christopher Boucher, Liza Price Nelson, Michael Boucher, Steven C. Price II, Thomas E. Price, Andrew Malesky, Sydney Malesky, and Alana Price; plus nineteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Maria Louisa Walker was formerly known, for many years, as Mary Lou Price, an international entertainer; She had been singing professionally since 1946, and had appeared at the most prestigious theaters, night clubs, and hotels in Panama, Chile, Venezuela, and Costa Rica. She had also appeared on the Southern Command Network, known as the Armed Forces Radio and Television outlet for the Republic of Panama and the Canal Zone. She sang beautifully in Spanish as well as in English, and exhibited the most elegant of styles. Not only was she a world renowned singer, but she was also a humble member of the Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post No. 3822 and No. 8541. Maria and her husband Paul, were incredible advocates for veterans and volunteered extensively with VFW posts. They visited multiple veteran hospitals throughout the United States. Maria and her husband Paul were long-time members of the motorcycle Gold Wing Road Riders Association of Alamo City, traveling throughout the United States bringing fundraising support for several non-profit organizations.
In addition to being a gifted singer and an advocate for veterans in the US, she was also a fashion icon and model for Dillards-Antonio Melani.
Maria also cherished her faith and spent ample amounts of time with her choir at St. Helena's Catholic Church in San Antonio, Texas. She enjoyed her time with numerous friends at the bingo hall, and she spent many days a week at the gym well into her 80’s.
She was a true gift to us all and the world was lucky to have such a beautiful, talented, generous, and passionate mom/grandma/friend. While her wings were ready, our hearts were not.
