Maria Alvina Martinez went to be with the Lord on October 25, 2014 at the age of 90. She was a member of the Guadalupanas organization as well as active member in the choir at St. Jude Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Felipe Martinez, parents; Ynocencio Cano and Nicolasa Cano, brother; Pedro Cano, who served in World War II and was awarded the Congressional Metal of Honor, her son; Felipe Martinez Jr. and wife Rosa. She is survived by 12 children: Mary-Frances Japp, Henrietta Arevalo, Richard Martinez, Mario Martinez, Gloria West, Natividad Martinez, Martha Vargas, Maggie Soto, Irene Nystrom, Juan-Jose Martinez, Robert Martinez, and Christina Edwards, 47 Grandchildren, 56 Great-Grandchildren, 1 Great-Great Grandchild, 2 Sister-in-Laws; Jovita Cassidy, Mary Trimble, 3 daughter-in-laws; Silvia Martinez, Marci Martinez, Alicia Martinez, numerous nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road at 5:00 p.m. with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A Mass of Resurrection will begin at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, October 30, 2014 at St. Jude Catholic Church with interment to follow at San Fernando Cemetery No. 2.
