Maria Rosario Herrera

She is survived by her three children; Elizabeth Agosto (Luis Agosto), Yvette Herrera (Joe Lopez), Manuel Herrera (Elizabeth Garcia), Six Grandchildren; Adelina R. Agosto, Luis D. Agosto Jr, Jessica M. Herrera, April A. Agosto, Jennifer M. Herrera, Emmanuel C. Herrera, Nine Great Grandchildren; Amerika J. Leija, Julius X. Agosto, Annia A. Leija, Azalia J. Leija, Jeramiah J. Garcia, Destinee J. Garcia, Jaiden A. Agosto, Jordyn C. Agosto, Chloe R. Crowell, and One Great Great Grandchild; Alaïa R. Cruz. She loved each one with all her heart. She lived a wonderful fulfilling life and touched many hearts throughout her lifetime.

Rosie played the clarinet and tennis (she won bi-district singles in 1956) and was a member of various school clubs in her youth. Rosie also greatly admired her father and the lifelong teachings he instilled. Some of her fondest memories include being his helping hand at their ranch, riding behind the tractor, and helping him operate their Icehouse, which she ran until 1960 before beginning her career with H-E-B Federal Credit Union in 1978. Rosie took great pride in her 22-year long career with the Credit Union and felt fortunate to have completed the position of the one-person operation in the opening of the first San Antonio Branch. She went on to earn several pins, certificates, and awards for the amazing service she contributed to HEB and accepted with honor. She was invited to and attended store grand openings in Laredo, Eagle Pass, and Monterrey and was even gifted a statue of Baby Jesus from Laredo partners which she cherished. Rosie was fortunate to have traveled to many places including Puerto Rico, and one of her favorite trips, Jerusalem.

Rosie was full of love and such a sweet soul with a great sense of humor. She adored and had an unconditional love for her children and grandchildren and there wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for them. She was selfless, compassionate, and always the first to lend a helping hand. She was witty, sharp, and was always sure to cross her T’s and dot her I’s. She was the law and did things with purpose and out of love. Nothing stood in the way of what she wanted to accomplish. She was a firm believer in Christ and lived her life walking the teachings and blessing of the Lord. We will always remember Rosie as a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, tia, friend, and the most caring and lively spirit. We will cherish the memories, the joy, the love, and mostly her spunky can-do attitude. She will continue to live on in our hearts.

A visitation for Maria will be held Wednesday, August 2, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Trevino Funeral Home with a prayer service to begin at 7:00 PM. A funeral service will occur Thursday, August 3, 2023 at 10:00 AM, at Trevino Funeral Home with interment to follow at San Fernando Cemetery II.
