Mr. Manuel Ramirez Jr. age 79, passed away July 1, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born in Robstown, Texas on November 5, 1940. He grew up in the San Antonio area and graduated from Sidney Lanier High school in 1959. After high school he worked on small jobs in San Antonio, Texas before making a commitment to work for the Wikel Construction Company in Fort Wayne, Indiana for ten years. He also worked ten years at Hancock Rural Telephone Company. Manuel began his Air Force Civil Service Career in June 1979 at Kelly Air Force Base, Texas. Manuel retired after 21 years holding numerous task, such as Telecommunication Specialist, and Quality Assurance Evaluator. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran.
Manuel will always be remembered as a dedicated and loving husband, brother, father and grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather. He was blessed with numerous nieces and nephews and a wealth of friends. A special thanks goes to his friends and the staff at the Doris Griffin Center and to his caretaker, his wife and stepson Daniel Monsivais.
Manuel was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel Ramirez Sr. and Josefina Portales Ramirez and two sisters, Dolores Ruiz and Cecilia Chavez, and brother in law, Fernando Herrera. He is survived by his wife, Santa Ramirez; children, Manuel Ramirez III(Sylvia), Roseanne De Los Santos(Daniel), Vanessa Acasta(Dan), and Denise Martinez; stepchildren, Daniel Monsivais, Elizabeth Monsivais, Aurora Cruz(Hector), Emilio Monsivais(Monica); siblings, Virginia Robles(Roger), Irene Lerma(Felix), Lillian Herrera, Linda Holguin, Daniel Ramirez(Catherine)Samuel Ramirez(Ernestina); 21 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Rd on Thursday, July 9, 2020 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. with a rosary at 7:00 P.M. A funeral service will be conducted at 9:00 A.M. Friday, July 10, 2020 at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with U.S. Army honors.
