Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Louis G. Torres, Sr. was called to be with our Lord to begin his journey to everlasting life on April 2, 2011 at the age of 77. Louis was born on October 5, 1933 and is preceded in death by his parents David and Virginia Torres; son, Phillip Torres, and Tio Juan Gonzales. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Gloria S. Torres; sons, Louis G. Torres, Jr. (Jennifer), David Torres (Julie), and Anthony F. Dominguez (Marisa); daughters, Lisa M. Torres (Arturo), Irma J. Dominguez (Lou), and Sandra A. Martinez (Sabas); siblings include: Jesse Torres ( Nelda), Frances Tovar (Raymond), Josie Favella (Joe). Raised as his own: Daniel D. Miranda, Jr. (Alma), Priscilla, Krista, and Gabriella Garcia. Louis also leaves behind 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. While honorably serving in the United States Army he went on to defend our freedom in the Korean War and later enlisted in the Army Reserves. Mr. Torres then retired Civil Service from Kelly AFB after 38 years. After retiring he enjoyed taking his wife and children on many cross country vacations. His hobbies included collecting coins, cards and sports memorablilia. He also loved music, dancing, cooking out, and drinking his favorite Bud Light beer. Together with his wife Gloria, and with the support of Father Raskey and Padre Abram, they co-wrote and edited the newsletter for the Marriage Encounter and created the symbol “Dos Anillos Y Un Corazon”, which is widely seen throughout the San Antonio area. Louis lived life to the fullest, always providing and putting his family first. Making memories with his humorous nature that will last a lifetime. When we think of Louis we will cry, we will laugh and mostly miss him dearly. Our comfort will be in knowing that he will continue to watch over us until the day we meet again. Honey, Daddy, Popo you will always be in our hearts. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Rd. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Friday, April 8, 2011 in the funeral home chapel. Procession will depart from the funeral home at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2011 for a 9:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Interment will follow in San Fernando cemetery No.2. Services under the direction of
