Wanted to share one beautiful moment I was honored to share with Mr Zuniga ❤️

On 20th of September was the day...my Dad made his final trip.  He was given such a send off.  The soldiers met him at the gate and followed us to the memorial.  He was given salutes, they played the TAP and 21 gun salute.  I was so happy to see people I had not seen in years.  He wanted to leave like Elvis...in Cadillacs...And that He did.  My son Emilio Banda Jr  was able to be a PB.   Thank you son and his wife. Janice Banda.

There are so many memories to share about my Poppy. When we talked he'd ask about all my siblings and my mother.  He had a special place in his heart for Johnny, Jr. and Debra Jean. He was the strongest man I ever knew and never complained about pain. Sometimes at parting from our visits, I would say, "I’ll see you tomorrow or see you soon" and he would respond, “God willing.” We should live day by day and not take anything for granted because no one knows if we will be granted another day.  Oftentimes, when he would visit my home, he would ask for a chair to sit outside.  I sometimes wondered what he was thinking as he sat in silence.  

Each time I would visit him, he would tell me not to leave too late, not to stop for anyone, and to get to my destination safely. When leaving voice messages, he sometimes left his trademark greeting, He would start off by saying, “Hi Kathy, there is no reason for alarm or concern”. I think this was his way of assuring me that he was okay.   

My younger sister Debra just recently shared one of her memories. While living at a cottage on his friend’s farm and she and her daughter would visit him, he would offer her scrambled eggs made from Emu eggs.  He was very resourceful and not wasteful. He found much joy in the simple things in life and gave thanks to God for all that he had. 

I am a southpaw like my dad. Only two of the six were lefties (the two-middle children). 

Several of his grandchildren share his gift our drawing and Nemi, my granddaughter has very promising artistic talent.  
I will remember him for his trust in God, his faith, his sense of humor, and most of all his love for his children. 

Lionel Ritchie said it best.  "There is peace in where you are. If I listen to my heart, I'll hear your laughter once more. I'm so glad you came my way!"

I miss you daddy!  

Wanted to pass along my condolences, love and prayers to all the Zuniga family. I had the honor to know and spend time with Mr Zuniga. I know that he loved his family and the Lord so we can rest assured to know we will be reunited together in heaven when Jesus returns. 

What memories to choose? So so many! I remember my father as a very neat person. He was very particular about even the slightest flaw on the tv picture or radio static. He picked up the tiniest piece of string or dust or paper on the ground. I remember how he loved to go for the long hauls to Fredericksburg and such. It was actually fun. One of the precious things several of his children and grandchildren as well as a few of his great babies inherited was a steady hand for art; mainly drawing and sketching! Two of his girls and one of his great grand girls are "lefties" also known as "Southpaws".  Daddy grew old to be a patient and gentle soul. He had a certain peace and love of God. He always told me to be patient with my Jose; his little Indio. He always assured me to stay with  God and be sincere and things would get better. He always said " don't shout talk calmly "y lo vera's". The most precious and spiritual and important gift of all; the most precious of all the legacies he shared with us and  left us with was the gift of love for God and each other and the gift and knowledge of how to forgive and ask for forgiveness . Up until his last day he hungered to see peace and forgiveness in his family. There are a great multitude of precious memories he left me with..." I love you forever; I like you for always, as long as I'm living , my "Daddy" you'll be!" You are gone from our midst but will NEVER be forgotten. Rest well Daddy; you fought a long brave fight lately! You deserve your peace and rest! Sincerely, your fourth born, Debra Jean Zuniga💖💖💖
