After graduating from high school, she continued her education by receiving a degree from San Antonio College, then proceeding to Our Lady of the Lake and San Marcos State University. Over the years, Josie enjoyed a varied life beginning with Joske’s Department Store, then went on to a diverse Civil Service career at Kelly Air Force Base where she retired in 2001.
In retirement, Josie remained active by joining “NARFE”, the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association. Josie was also an active member of the “Confraternity of Our Lady of Guadalupe” as well as a volunteer at the “Adult Senior Center” which were both at her beloved St. Matthew Catholic Church. While there, she made many lifelong friends with her exuberant personality.
Preceding her were her loving parents and brothers Jesus (Jesse), Jose Alberto, Ignacio, George and Perfecto. She is survived by brother Edward (and spouse, Ruth) as well as her sister-in-laws, Irma Villarreal and Frances Villarreal as well as many loving nieces, nephews and Grand nephews and nieces.
A visitation for Josie will be held Thursday, April 28, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers, 515 North Main Ave, San Antonio, Texas 78205. A funeral mass will be held Friday, April 29, 2022 at 10:00 AM at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 10703 Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78230, with a graveside service following at San Fernando #2 Cemetery, 746 Castroville Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78237.
