Was the greatest father a daughter could ever ask for. He was a man of character and truth. He was supportive of his family and always present in the people whom he was close to lives. His life was one full of scars bumps and bruises, all of which added to his character and knowledge. He was prideful of education and has always appreciated a good education. He was a single parent, close to 17 years. He stepped up to the plate with the help of his mother, he managed to be the most involved parent, bias I know but he was the best I could ever hope to have. He served his country in the Navy. After his accident he focused his life to raising his child, He spent the last 17 years working hard at all he did despite the pain he was in. One of the strongest men I’ve ever met. He left behind one daughter, me Nicole Mitchell. His mother Connie Grimm as well as a sister, Cheryl Quinn. Among others he was the light of the room and his family will surly miss him.
Intrepid Hero
Motivating, Cheering, Involved,
Never ceasing, Sleeping nor Complaining
that was my dad.
He cared for me through thick and thin,
I found safety in his grin.
He had big rough hands to hold me safe.
Scars, Bumps and Bruises were reminders
Reminders of how he protected me.
The light danced in his eyes
Blue and Green flecks of truth.
Even though I made him Bald, Grey, and even gave him a few wrinkles
I knew they were not setbacks.
I knew he “had been there, done that,” and knew what was right.
Age, pain , anguish never seemed to hold him back.
Motivation was his passion
Even when it seemed mine was to bug him.
The smell of fresh cut grass and home surrounded him,
And so did some Kylie hair.
Yard work became a obsession.
The garden was his home.
Pruning, watering and caring as if they were his own.
Racking, bagging and trimming,
He truly did do it all.
Worry wart, over bearing and cautious
“The drive safe!” , “make wise choices!” and “be careful!“.
Was the ever reminder that he cared.
Even when I felt I was going to sink,
He was there to grab my hand and hold me tight.
He was my best friend
But may I never forget,
How he loved, cared and blessed my life.
Daddy, I will forever love you, 2010.
