Josefa nació en Villahermosa, México, hija de Juan López y Beatriz López el 17 de octubre de 1925. Asistió a la escuela en Villahermosa. Se casó con Severo Garza Sáenz en Matamoros, Tamaulipas y dedicó su vida a su esposo e hijos. Sirvió como presidenta del club rotario de Matamoros, México, como voluntaria para la Cruz Roja de Matamoros, y sirviendo como voluntaria en la iglesia de Nuestra Señora de los Dolores en McAllen, TX.

Josefa es precedida en la muerte por su esposo Severo y su hija Minerva.

A Josefa le sobreviven Luis Garza López, Severo Garza López y su esposa Joann, Juan Garza López y su esposa Amy y Diana Garza Louis y su esposo Ralph y sus 9 nietos y 6 bisnietos.

El velorio será el jueves 5 de octubre de 2023 de las 10:00 a.m. a las 11:00 a.m. Los servicios funerarios se llevarán a cabo a las 11:00 a.m. y el entierro a las 12:00 del mediodía en Sunset Memorial Park and Cemetery en 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas 78218.

Our dearest Josefa Lopez de Garza (Chepa, Pepa, Jóse), 97 years old, of Villahermosa, Tamaulipas, passed away on September 29th at 4:13 p.m. in Austin, Texas.

Josefa was born in Villahermosa, Mexico to Juan Lopez and Beatriz Lopez on Oct 17th 1925. She attended school in Villahermosa. She married Severo Garza Saenz and dedicated her life to her husband and children. She served as president of the Rotary club of Matamoros, Mexico, volunteered for the Red Cross of Matamoros and served as a volunteer at Our Lady of Sorrows church in McAllen, TX.

Josefa is preceded in death by her husband Severo and daughter Minerva.

Josefa is survived by Luis Garza Lopez, Severo Garza Lopez and his wife Joann, Juan Garza Lopez and his wife Amy, and Diana Garza Louis and her husband Ralph and her 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Thursday October 5th 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 and burial at 12:00 noon at Sunset Memorial Park and Cemetery at 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, Texas 78218.
