Johnny Joe Mendez

Johnny Joe Mendez, born on March 4, 1942 in San Antonio, TX was called to be with the Lord on July 2, 2020, at the age of 78. He is preceded in death by his wife, Maruca D. Mendez; daughters: Leticia Paez and Dominga Mendez; sisters: Carmen Gutierrez and Lupe Hernandez; and brothers: Antonio Mendez Jr., and Cruz Mendez. He is survived by his children: Joe Mendez Jr., Diana Deering (Jorge), Virginia Alvarez, Patty Martinez (Joe), Veronica Mendez (Gilbert) and Corina M. Garcia (Michael); 19 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren; son-in-law: Mark Paez; brother: Antonio Gutierrez Mendez; sister, Vicky Garza; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended relatives and friends.

The Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Funeraria Del Angel Trevino, 2525 Palo Alto Road, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. The family requests that friends visit from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and only immediate family members attend the Rosary Service. The Procession will depart from the funeral home on Friday, July 10, 2020, at 9:15 a.m. for a 10:00 am Mass of the Resurrection at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 236 E. Petaluma, San Antonio, Texas. Interment will follow in San Jose Burial Park.

Due to the COVID-19 declaration by the City, County and State Officials, The Visitation will be enforced and limited to 50 people in the chapel including the clergy.

All guests must wear facial coverings at all times while in the building.
