John Q. Hill Jr. of San Antonio passed peacefully on March 28, 2021. Visitation service will be held on April 26th from 6:00 - 9:00 pm at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at Ft Sam Houston on April 27th at 11:15 am. Born September 19, 1942, John was raised in Baytown, TX where he received his degree from Lamar University in Civil Engineering. Upon finishing this degree, he served in the USAF during the Vietnam War. In the culmination of his military career, he achieved the rank of Colonel. While working, he continued his education at various institutions including Central Michigan University, RHEMA Bible College, and the University of Texas at San Antonio. He retired from the Air Force Civil Engineer Center (AFCEC) where he managed numerous environmental projects and traveled routinely to Guam and Hawaii. He was a supportive loving husband and father, who continually encouraged his children in their faith in God and to pursue their dreams. He is preceded in death by his parents John Quincy Hill Sr. and Lila Shields Hill; his first wife Mary Davis Hill (mother of Ginger, Malia, John Quincy III, and Sylvia); and his brother Donald Hill. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Flores Hill; and his children: Ginger (Robert) Farrell of Seattle, WA., Malia (John) Gattas of S. Padre Island, TX, John Q. (Laurie) Hill III, and Sylvia Hill of San Antonio, TX; grandsons, Jeremiah Gattas and Brighton Farrell.
