Joel Tyler Zamorano was taken suddenly out of this life and into eternity with his Savoir on the morning of November 15, 2018 in San Antonio, TX. He was born in Tucson, AZ on February 24, 1981 to Enrique Zamorano and Martha (Wilkin) Cole and was the oldest of 3 children. Joel enjoyed little league baseball and soccer as a child.
Joel attended Riverview Baptist Christian School and was number 11 on their varsity basketball team. He graduated as Salutatorian of his class in June of 1999.
After high school Joel went on to attend Hyles Anderson College in Schererville, IN. He majored in Biblical studies with a Minor in Mission work. He was also a member of First Baptist Church in Hammond, IN, where he enjoyed serving on the bus ministry and drove a Sunday School bus.
For the last 13 years Joel was employed as a long-haul truck driver. First for Schneider Trucking and later partnered with his father as owner/operator of their own truck company, in San Antonio.
In his spare time Joel enjoyed attending San Antonio Spurs games, going to movies, and riding wild rollercoasters. Joel loved to explore other countries such as Bali Indonesia, Costa Rica, and the Dominican Republic.
Joel was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Delfino and Guadalupe (Ortiz) Zamorano and his maternal grandparents Ralph and Evelyn (Tyner) Wilkin.
He was survived by father Enrique Zamorano, mother and stepfather Bill and Marti (Wilkin) Cole, sisters Naomi (Zamorano) St. Laurent and Ruth (Zamorano) Voorhies and many Uncles, Aunts, and Cousins who will miss him greatly.
Joel will be remembered most for his infectious smile, willingness to lend a helping hand, and generosity to anyone in need.
Celebration of Life Services will be held on Saturday December 8,2018 at 11:00 am at:
Keith and Keith Funeral Home, 902 W. Yakima Avenue, Yakima, WA 98902. Graveside service will be shortly afterwards Tahoma Cemetery in Yakima WA.
