Joe Solis

Joe Solis, age 86, went to be with his Lord on Monday July 26, 2010. He was born on June 16, 1924 in San Antonio, Texas. Joe enlisted in the Army Air Corp and was a veteran of WWII where he served in the Pacific as a B-29 crew member. He was on Tinian when the war ended. After the war he began a long and successful Civil Service career at Kelly AFB retiring in 1989. Joe is preceded in death by his wife Mary A. Solis, son Robert Solis, granddaughter Christina Marie, brother David Solis, his father Jose Solis and his mother Paola and her husband Amado Tenorio. Joe is survived by his son, Joe Solis Jr. and wife Lydia; sister, Olga Alvarez and husband Charlie; brothers, Richard Solis and wife Terry, Johnny Solis and wife Sara, Sammy Solis; grandchildren, Robert A. Solis, Roxanne Mendler, Cynthia Hendrickson, Leticia Holberg, Valerie Goldsworthy, Raymond S. Solis, and Jennifer Solis; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home on Bandera Road on Friday, July 30, 2010 from 6:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. with a rosary at 7:00 P.M. The funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 9:30 A.M. Saturday, July 31, 2010 for a 10:00 A.M. mass at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Interment to follow at San Fernando Cemetery # 2.
