10/3/1932- 7/16/2024
Henry J. Michel, 91, of San Antonio, TX, went home to the Lord on July 16, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family. Born on October 3, 1932, Henry dedicated his life to service, both in the military and for his family.
Henry proudly served in the Air Force from 1952 to 1956, as a radio operator. His military career took him to various parts of the world, including his tour in the Korean War, where he earned numerous commendations for his bravery and leadership. His commitment to his country was unwavering, and he was a source of inspiration to all who knew him.
Following his distinguished military service, Henry started working in appliance parts, then repair, and, eventually, started his own business, Henry’s Appliance Repair. Henry was hard-working and dedicated and after 15 years of being a successful business owner, he retired.
In his retirement, Henry enjoyed picking up his grandchildren from school, traveling, especially to casinos, and reading his newspaper daily from front to back. He was also an avid coin and stamp collector and enjoyed sharing stories and knowledge with his grandchildren.
In the 91 years that Henry lived, he was so many things to so many people. He was a son, a brother, a hero, a husband, a dad, a poppi, an uncle, and a friend. He had an amazing memory and told entertaining stories, sometimes with a hint of exaggeration. Even in his last few days, he was still pulling our chain.
He is survived and missed by his loving wife, Rose Mary of 61 years, his children, Yvonne Michel, Lorriane Foster, Andrew Michel and his brother John Michel.
Forever cherished and remembered by his grandchildren: Jacqueline Esparza; Kindra Foster; Audra and Henry Howerton; Aubrey, Arianna and Atticus Michel, great grandchildren, Julius, Jacelyn, Jonah, Sterling, and our newest addition Penelope.
