LOIS HARRIETTE HORNE PEARCE, affectionately known as “Honey” and “Grandma Honey”, entered this world on July 21, 1924, to Olin Sugar Horne and Irene Thomas Horne, and went home to her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 13, 2020, at the age of 95. She was born as the third of five children in Metcalfe, Georgia, a farming community near the Georgia-Florida state line; attended local schools and a nearby business college; and was employed as secretary to the the local school district superintendent until she married. An Air Force wife and a member of the Greatest Generation, Honey said “I do” to Charles Arthur (Chuck) Pearce in 1945 after his return from Army Air Force flying duty in the South Pacific, and was married to him for 58 years, until his death in 2003. Honey and Chuck lived in California, Florida, Mississippi, Newfoundland, South Carolina, and Japan, before they were transferred in 1961 to San Antonio, Texas, where she lived for the rest of her life. She was an active member of Northeast Baptist Church, San Antonio, Texas and a former Ambassador for Secure Horizons. Honey was a true Southern gentle lady, had a wonderful smile, a great sense of humor, and much love for all of her family. She enjoyed ikebana, a skill she learned while living in Japan; flower gardening; and collected giraffes and just about anything with a hummingbird theme. Honey had the gift of encouragement and faithfully visited home-bound friends; when she was no longer able to do that, she called and sent uplifting notes to those same people, as well as to others. She read her Bible daily, along with her devotional guide, and she was a prayer warrior, earnestly interceding for all of her family. She cheered for the Spurs, Dallas Cowboys, and Texas Longhorns. She is survived by son, Charles L. (Larry) Pearce and wife, Cindy; daughter, Linda Pearce Hauser and husband, Gregory (Greg); son, Kenneth H. (Ken) Pearce and wife, Gay Lee; daughter, Patti Pearce Davenport and husband, Willard (Willie); and son, Christopher O. (Chris) Pearce and wife, Hope; six grandchildren (Jennifer Pearce Schwantes; Scott Pearce; Tracy Hauser Roth; Salem Pearce; Jordan Pearce; and Andrew (Andy) Pearce. One grandchild, Kelly Pearce Huber, predeceased her); three step-grandsons (David Rook, Bruce Rook, Robert (Bob) Rook and their families—step-daughter Lisbeth (Libby) Rook predeceased her); eight great-grandchildren (Ashley Huber; Taylor Huber; Garren Schwantes; Charlie Roth; Jack Roth; Archer Pearce; Abbott Pearce; and Ames Pearce); sister, Janet L. (Net) McLendon; sister-in-law, Joyce Pearce Jackson; and several nieces, nephews and their families in Georgia and Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in her name to Northeast Baptist Church, San Antonio, Texas or the charity of your choice.
