Fidelia G. Ortegon, “Lela” 86, entered eternal rest on September 14, 2023. Born on November 16, 1936 in Cd. Anauac, Neuvo Leon, Mexico, she immigrated to the United States in 1953 at the age of sixteen. In 1955 Fidelia married Baltazar R. Ortegon and together raised four daughters. Lela’s devotion to family and firm belief in God was a beacon throughout her life and brought her fulfillment.
Lela retired from the University Health System after twenty-five years of service. In addition to raising her family her many interests included playing bunco, casino trips, sewing, dancing, jewelry making, game nights, traveling, and was a proud Lifetime PTA member.
Lela dedicated her life to serving others and was a devoted parishioner of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. She served on several church ministries and participated in retreats with the ACTS community and Women of Peace. Generous with her time and talents Lela devoted time in Adoration and served in various Prince of Peace organizations. In addition to working with the Rosary Guild, she created hundreds of rosaries, and taught others the art of making rosaries.
Lela is preceded in death by her husband, Baltazar R. Ortegon and her daughter, Glo Snyder. She is survived by her daughters, Laura Campbell, Norma Ortiz (Dickie), Lisa Robles (Rick), son-in-law, John Snyder, five grandchildren, Ryan Henarie, AmberRose Sanchez, Shelby Perkins, Ruger Robles, Zak Robles and six great grandchildren.

Visitation for Fidelia will be held on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. followed by a rosary at 7:00 p.m. Sunset Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, TX, 78238. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 7893 Grissom Road, San Antonio, TX 78251
