She is survived by her loving husband, Leo G. Ramos, her six children and their spouses: Boni (Mark), Mike (Veronica), Rebecca (David), Benita(William) , Gregory, and Jimmie Kay. She also has seven beautiful grandchildren, Bryan, Alexander, Siprianita, Matthew, Chloe, MariaBelen and Isabella. Emma was preceded in death by her parents Salome and Hortencia, her sister Concepcion, brothers John and Luis, and daughter Diane. Emma is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Dora, Salome, Tony, Stella, Mary Helen, and Bobby.
Emma attended the University of Incarnate Word College School of Nursing, and graduated from The Baptist School of Nursing in 1956. Emma began a lifetime career as a Registered Nurse, providing patient care in hospitals and as a home health care nurse up until her recent illness. Her desire to care for and support others was always evident in everything she did. An avid supporter of the arts, Emma enrolled her children in the Ballet Folklorico de San Antonio in 1968 – and thus began her devotion to the cause of dance and the arts in the San Antonio Community. She worked tirelessly to promote the Ballet, by serving as a class parent, volunteer, Mistress of Ceremonies, board member, and Executive Director. Emma could always be counted on to volunteer her time and expertise to other community events and she was well known and loved for it.
Memorial services will be held the Sunset Funeral Park at 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218 | 210-828-2811 | MAP, on May 23, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The rosary will be held at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held at St. Pius X Catholic Church on May 24, 2016 at 11:am. Interment to follow at Sunset Funeral Park.
