Our Mamacita, Emma Z. Cortez, "La Morena" gained her wings and and became our Angel on March 27, 2025 in her sleep and in the peace and serenity of her home with her family. She is now resting in the arms of our Lord and Savior. She is survived by her beloved children, Arturo, Jr. (Rebecca), Rachel (Carlos), Theresa (Joe), John and Margaret; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She is predeceased by her parents, two brothers, Dad and granddaughter Megan.
Mom was a spiritual woman, prayed her Rosary every day and worshiped her Virgen of Guadalupe. Mom was very caring and generous, always wanting to help however she could. She loved us with all her heart and always ended phone calls with "I love you". Her devotion to her family was immense and despite our ages, she always made sure we celebrated our birthdays. Mom loved taking care of her humble home. She loved watching Spurs and Cowboys games, and would dress in her favorite sports attire. Mom was happiest when we were all with her, eating out, at home during the holidays and just hanging out. We were blessed to have had Mom healthy and for so many years. We will miss her tremendously, no words can describe our loss.
Our family would like to give special thanks to La Diferencia Hospice, nurse Cynthia for her loving care of Mom, support and compassion during this difficult time.
