Elna Adams Jeanes (nee Adams) passed away peacefully in Washington state in her daughter's arms. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Etta Adams, ten brothers and sisters, one grandchild, one great-grandchild, her son Kent Jeanes, and her husband Ernest Jeanes. She is survived by three children: Marietta Ostberg (Doug), Rene' Schrieber (John), and Douglas Jeanes (Meg), eleven grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren & great-great-grandchildren, many nieces & nephews, brothers & sisters in faith, dear friends and fellow Rotarians.
Elna was a member of Thousand Oaks Christian Church in San Antonio. She joined Rotary International at the age of 100yrs 4 months where she was an inspiration for her accomplishments, love of life, and sharp wit. Within Rotary, she was working on her own project of raising awareness of the rights of elderly and disabled adults.
She lived and died on her own terms, outsmarting death multiple times until she decided she was ready to go. She traveled the world and inspired others everywhere she went. Elna believed in the rights and dignity of all people. She was a successful cattle rancher, farmer, builder, artist, dress maker, musician, and had so many talents and gifts that are too many to mention. A visitation for Elna will be held Monday, October 21, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218. A service will occur Tuesday, October 22, 2024 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218. A committal will occur Tuesday, October 22, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
