Ella R. Skinner

Ella R. Skinner was born in Kingsport, TN on February 25, 1923 to Thomas Jefferson Crowe and Vera Lena Mottern, and went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 31, 2013 in San Antonio, TX. She had a genuine love for her family and friends and those she just met. Ella was a Registered Nurse for 52 years. She was the Hospital Supervisor for Audie Murphy VA Hospital for 13 years. She also loved to garden and was a poet.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Glenn Skinner; son, Tim Skinner; brother, Norman Crowe; and sister, June Flemming. Surviving are her son, Jeff Skinner; daughter, Beckie Williams (Rick); son, Rick Skinner (Cheryll); grandchildren, Jonathan, Matthew, Martin, Beckie Jo, Jennifer, Joe, Julie, Morgan, and their spouses; and 11 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother, Bob Crowe (Elsie), sister, Betty Berry; brothers-in-law, Hugh Berry, Bill Skinner (Fran); sisters-in-law, Ann Skinner, Kathy Skinner; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2013 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or Castle Hills First Baptist Church.
