Elisa H. Cortez

Elisa Hurtado Cortez, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, entered rest on September 2, 2012. She was born on July 19, 1921 in San Antonio, Texas. Elisa was a devout catholic and member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, Lifetime Guadalupana and a strong supporter of St. Vincent de Paul Society. She was preceded in death by her husband, Taylor Lopez Cortez; parents, Espiridion Hurtado and Rafaela Fernandez de Hurtado; sisters, Cata, Eva, Estella; brothers, Edward and Enrique and granddaughter, Jennifer. She is survived by her children, Thomas Cortez and wife Susan, Roger Cortez and wife Rose Marie, Diane and husband Joe Torres, Robert Cortez and wife Mary Lou all from San Antonio, TX, Richard Cortez and wife Cindy from Katy, TX; grandchildren: Christina Glasgow and husband John of Lubbock, TX, Thomas Cortez, Bobby Cortez, Brian Cortez and wife Jessica, Stephanie Cortez, Michael Cortez, Matthew Cortez all of San Antonio, TX, Eric Cortez, Stacy Cortez of Houston, TX, Christopher Cortez and wife Keely of San Leandro, CA; great-grandchildren: Holly, Ashley, Robert, Katarina, Ethan, and Ellen; sister, Chavela Cortez of San Antonio, TX. The family will receive friends at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, September 9, 2012 with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. at Funeraria Del Angel Roy Akers. A funeral procession will depart the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. for a 10:30 a.m. Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
