Senior Master Sergeant Douglas Paul Reynolds

Senior Master Sergeant Douglas Paul Reynolds, age 76, passed away May 23, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on April 3, 1945 in Lebanon, New Hampshire to Gerald and Marjorie Kilgore Reynolds. Douglas was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Richard and Malcolm Reynolds. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Cynthia Reynolds; children, Stephen Paul Reynolds and wife Norma; Sherrie Lynn LaChance and husband Scott; grandchildren, Luke Douglas LaChance and Miranda Lynn LaChance; siblings Cynthia Patterson, Patricia Parrett, Bruce, Donna and Linda Reynolds.

Douglas lived in Florida and New Hampshire in his younger years. He met his wife Cynthia in Rochester, New Hampshire, in August of 1962. Douglas joined the Air Force on August 16, 1963 entering the field of Military Pay and Finance; he did his training at Lackland AFB, San Antonio, Texas. Cynthia and Douglas were married on September 26, 1964 at True Memorial Baptist Church in Rochester, New Hampshire. Their first duty station was at Loring AFB in Caribou, Maine where their daughter Sherrie was born on February 2, 1966. Douglas continued his service assigned to Bien Hoa AFB in Vietnam from 1966 to 1967. Upon return from Vietnam he was stationed at McClellan AFB, in Sacramento, California. Their son Stephen was born on May 6, 1968 at Mather, AFB in California. Other assignments included Korea, New Hampshire, Philippines, England and Texas. Douglas retired from the Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant after 20 years of dedicated service on December 31, 1983. During his service he received numerous awards: Vietnam Service Medal; Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon with four oak leaf clusters; Air Force Good Conduct Medal with five oak leaf clusters; Meritorious Service Medal; Air Force Commendation Medal with two oak leaf clusters; Air Force Outstanding Unit Award; Air Force Presidential Unit Citation; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea); Air Force Organization Excellence Award; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal; Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with palm; National Defense Service Medal; Air Force Long Tour Ribbon; Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon.

After retiring from the Air Force, he continued his service to Military Pay and Finance as a civil service employee working at Lackland AFB until he retired on July 31, 2004.

Douglas loved being outdoors, spending time with friends and family, and travelling. He was not one to sit around and always tried to live life to the fullest. Douglas and Cynthia spent 14 years living on Medina Lake and enjoyed being on the water and entertaining. They moved to Hill Country Retreat in May 2008 where they enjoyed being part of the Golf Cart Club, Brew Crew, Wine Club, and Veterans Group. Douglas especially loved the pool parties on Sunday afternoon and dancing to all the oldies! They made many wonderful friends who continue to be a support for Cynthia.

Cynthia and Douglas also loved to travel and were fortunate to have gone on many trips with family and friends. They travelled often to Colorado to visit their daughter and family, and went on trips to Arizona, New York and Missouri to watch their grandson play baseball. They enjoyed travelling back east to New Hampshire and Maine to visit family and soak up the New England culture. They loved going on cruises to the Caribbean, Mexico, South America, England and Rome.

Douglas was a devout Christian who is now in the arms of his one and only Savior.

Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road, San Antonio, Texas 78238 on Friday, June 11, 2021 beginning at 1:00 P.M. and a Memorial Service at 2:00 P.M.
