Dorothy "Dottie" Pena

Dorothy (Dottie) Pena joined the great party in the sky on March 21, 2022. She has joined in rejoicing with her loving husband, Richard “Dicky” Pena, son, Ricky Pena, brothers Lynn Lawson, Leon and Billy Phillips, best friend, Jackie Hayden, and babies, Buster and Molly.

Dorothy was born on September 28, 1928 in Galveston, Texas. Always colorful, Dorothy believed in celebrating in all that you can. She was a stay at home mom for 16 years before returning to work as a bus aid mom for disabled children, whom she cared for dearly. She enjoyed being a part of her own children’s lives as well; volunteering herself to help with Girl Scouts, PTA, etc. Dorothy had a big heart and loved helping others. Richard and she loved to travel often going on cruises and RV trips. Her favorite vacation spot was Alaska. When visiting Wanda in Houston, her favorite part was seeing the horses and loving on Roxy, the donkey.

Dorothy is survived by daughters, Patty Yokum, Wanda Potter and grandson Jacob.

A celebration to celebrate her life will be held at Sunset Funeral Home on March 26, 2022, with a visitation from 11-1PM; services are to begin at 1pm with committal to follow at Sunset Memorial Park. For those attending we ask that you please dress in celebratory clothing as Dorothy loved color. In lieu of flowers please donate to an animal shelter of your choice.
