Joan was born in East Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Mary and Joseph Lawrence. She was the oldest of two daughters. She rode her bike for miles when she was young and played with her younger sister Jean. On May 21st, 1955, Joan married Harry Geyer of San Antonio, Texas whom she called her “creampuff”. Together they had four children: Gwenn, William, Michelle, and Christopher. Joan was a selfless, independent, and strong woman. Joan retired from Frost Bank after many years of service in the banking industry. She babysat kids in the neighborhood and treated them as her own. She always sewed gifts for family and friends. She regularly attended St. Jerome’s Catholic Church, and she’d go to their “Senior” day where they would play bingo and have a potluck lunch. Every Saturday after church, she and Harry would go to her sister-in-law’s house to play Yahtzee with friends. Joan will always be remembered for her sewing, stories, and her love of family.
