She is preceded in death by her parents and the love of her life, Robert P. Castillo. She is survived by her six children, Patricia Castillo Dove (Randal B), Robert Castillo (Cheryl), Stephen Castillo (Betty Jo), Sallie Castillo Shannon (Nick), Melissa Castillo Barrett (Charles) and Michael Castillo. Sisters, Margaret Peters, Eleanor Cruz; Brothers, Ruben Andrade, Rudy Andrade and Ernest Andrade(Cecelia), sister-in-laws, Jo Castillo Danko (Steve) and Dee Castillo Granato (Jake). Grandchildren, Ryan Gamboa, Zane Gamboa, Joshua Castillo, Brittney Castillo Daniel, Stephen Eric Castillo, Emily Castillo, Elliott Saks, Gabrianna Saks, Chase Mauldin, Laura Barrett, Alianna Castillo Corn and Brieanne Castillo Lawrence. She also leaves behind ten great- grandchildren, Kaylin, Josh, Leo, Mathix, Vivianna, Zavanna, Jayce, Nathan, Chloe and Ava, and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Dora was a devoted wife, a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a homemaker and had an enormous passion for cooking and gardening and loved being surrounded by all her family and friends, especially during the holidays. She touched the lives of all who knew her with her beautiful smile and kind heart. She was a generous person who always opened her home to her children’s friends, sharing her love and wonderful cooking with all who visited. She was dearly loved and will be missed by all. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Nick Shannon, our mother’s physician and her son-in-law, for his love, compassion and care for our mother for the last twenty years.
Visitation will begin at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Hwy, on Sunday, January 12, 2014, at 5:00 P.M. Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. with a funeral Mass to be celebrated on Monday, January 13th at 1:30 p.m., St. Matthew Catholic Church, 10703 Wurzbach Road, San Antonio, Texas. Private interment will be at a later date.
