David Edward Moore went home to be with his Heavenly Father on November 27, 2018. David was born in Decatur, Alabama and passed away at Connally Memorial Medical Center in Floresville, Texas with his daughter April, son-in-law Jerry and grandson Julian by his side.
David spent his childhood growing up in Alabama, Ohio and Indiana. He liked to talk about hunting and fishing in the woods in Alabama and picking fruits and vegetables out of the garden. He often talked about how he would sneak off without his parents knowing to learn to fly at age 16. David served honorably in the US Army during the Korean War as Pfc. He was part of the Explosive Ordinance Division and ended up on the front lines carrying weapons and munitions to the troops. He received the following medals during his time of service: the Army of Occ Medal (Japan) and the Korean Service Medal and Four Bronze Service Stars.
Following the war he moved to Phoenix, Arizona, where his parents had relocated and spent most of his adult life there. It was in Phoenix that David met his wife Leila, they were married for 54 years. They raised 3 daughters and 2 sons together.
David loved his family, flying planes, boating and skiing at the lakes in Arizona, camping at the family property in Heber, Arizona and especially hiking and treasure hunting in the Superstition Mountains in Arizona with his dear friends Ken Lee and Frank Erickson. It was his lifelong dream to find the Lost Dutchman treasure. David worked for over 20 years repairing equipment for Arthur Electric and Mitchell Electric.
David is survived by his wife Leila Moore, four of five of his children: Pamela Brock, Daniel Wood, Heather Hakam and April Ocanas; sons-in-law: Jerry Ocanas, Haamid Hakam and Philip Brock; 8 grandchildren: Christopher Bero, Aubrey Wood, Channell Skinner, Sara Wood, Jake Bero, Ryan Wood, Katie Bero and Julian Ocanas; and 11 great grandchildren.
