David L Dixon was born in Brownwood Texas on August 5, 1934 to Edwin K & Eddie Lou Dixon. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Joe and Bob and 2 sisters, Louise and Juanelle. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Betty, and 3 Children, David (Terry), Kim Pride (Charlie), Kelli Stipe (James), 7 Grandchildren, Joshua, Jacob, Lesley, Audrey, Tori, Rylee and Kristin, 1 Great Grandson Aiden, and numerous nieces and nephews.
David graduated from Early High School and went on to join the US Air Force where he proudly served 23 years. Following retirement from the Air Force he worked in the Warranty Departments at Riata Cadillac and Superior Pontiac in San Antonio. He also worked several years for Sun Jet servicing and fueling airplanes for the Spurs, George Strait, and other local celebrities.
He loved sports of all kinds and could often be heard cheering his beloved Dallas Cowboys from down the street. He played softball on many squadron teams throughout his military career, and could always be counted on to toss a football, shoot baskets, or play baseball with his nephews and grandkids. He also enjoyed playing in the pool with the grandkids during family events. He was so proud of all of his grandchildren’s accomplishments through the years. He would have been so proud to see them graduate from college, but Dementia prevented him from being a part of these celebrations.
David was a simple man who loved his country, attending his grandchildren’s events, whether it was baseball, volleyball, jump rope, choir or orchestra, he could be counted on to be there cheering them on. He had a love for Country and Gospel Music and could be heard singing these songs right up until Dementia took away his ability to speak.
David was the sweetest man ever and we were Proud to call him Husband, Dad and PaPa.
Services will be held on Saturday, June 6, 11:30am at The Sunset Memorial Chapel On Hwy 1604 East. All are welcome, but those attending will be required to wear face coverings
