Chris Medina went to be with the Lord, August 26, 2012 at the age of 53. He is preceded in death by his brother David “Bullo” Medina, grandparents Lupe and Eddie Lopez, and Carmen and Gilbert Medina. Mr. Medina is survived by his wife Carol Medina, daughter Andrea Medina Castaneda (Tony); sons Javier Medina, Rene Medina; grandchildren Star, Layla and Callie Castaneda; parents Lionel & JoAnn Medina; brother Lionel Medina; and sisters Debra Barboza & Margaret Gonzalez and numerous nephews and nieces. Chris started playing soccer and football at the age of six for the Prospect Hill Yellowjackets and baseball for Pan American Little League. His love for sports continued at Holy Cross High School where he excelled in football, track, and soccer in which he set the school record for career goals. Chris’ love for sports and his school fueled him to become a volunteer coach at Prospect Hill and Holy Cross High School where he coached soccer, football, track, and baseball for over 20 years. Chris’ life revolved around his wife, children, and grandchildren. You would always find him at their games, cheer competitions and every summer traveling making memories. His sense of humor always brought a smile to everyone’s face. Chris’ love for his family, friends and kindness to strangers will never be matched. The Holy Cross Fight Song will never be the same, but Chris is now up in Heaven shaking down the thunder from the sky. A visitation will begin Wednesday, August 29, 2012, 5:00 p.m. at Holy Cross High School, 426 N. San Felipe, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. that same evening. A funeral service will be celebrated, Thursday, August 30, 2012 , 9:00 a.m. at Holy Cross High School with interment to follow in San Fernando Cemetery #2. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Holy Cross of San Antonio for the Chris and David Medina Scholarship Fund.
