Charles A. Murray Jr.

Charles Arnold Murray, Jr. passed away September 7, 2022, at the age of 78. He was born on November 25, 1943, in San Antonio, Texas. He is preceded in death by parents Charles Murray Sr., Cathryn & Jim Metz (Stepfather) and sister, Kathey Ahlfinger.

Charles loved the flooring business. He started his career at Acme Floor Co. in the early 60’s. Later he became a partner at Bexar Floor Covering until the late 60’s. He then went to work for San Antonio Floor Finishers, Inc. where he soon became part owner in 1971, and later Chief Operating Officer of the company. He retired in 2021.

Charles also loved the cattle ranching industry. In 1991 he fulfilled his lifelong dream of purchasing land and cattle in D’Hanis, Texas which started D’Hanis Limousine Ranch. Throughout his time in the cattle industry, he was also known as D/A Cattle Co., and then D’Hanis Angus Ranch. He was a lifetime member of the North American Limousine Assoc., American Angus Assoc., and the Texas Angus Assoc. He also was a member of the Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Assoc. He enjoyed spending time at the ranch.

Charles is survived by his wife of 61 years, Linda Jean Murray; children, John Murray (Kathleen), Dawn McComas (Rodney), Kimberly Calarco (Matthew); grandchildren, Charles, Joshua, Lauren (Jeff), Ryan (Linzy), Matthew and Anthony; great-grandchildren; Amelia, Clayton, Cody, McKenzie and Parker.

Visitation will be at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Rd. on Sunday, September 25, 2022, from 6 PM to 8 PM with rosary at 7 PM. A Funeral mass will be celebrated at 1 PM Monday, September 26, 2022, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Helotes, with interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Wounded Warrior Project in memory of Charles
