Carl Dockery Jr., age 87, passed away January 15, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on August 30, 1933 and grew up with seven brothers and sisters in Harlan County, Kentucky, during the times of the Great Depression and World War II. At the age of 18, he joined the Air Force and began a military career that lasted almost 22 years followed by another 20 years in civil service. It was with the Air Force in Japan when Carl met his wife, Chika, with whom he was married for 45 years, and who predeceased him. In addition to loving his wife and family, Carl was an avid lover of animals, and had a life-long hobby of raising pigeons and doves.
He is survived by his sons, Bob Dockery and wife Melody, Ricky Dockery; daughter, Pat Dockery; grandchildren, Scott Dockery, Sarah Galaro and husband Dean, Elizabeth Combs and husband Jacob, and Siobhan Carmody; great granddaughter, Charlotte Galaro; and sister-in-law, Eula May Dockery. His family is grateful for all he did for them, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A graveside service with U.S. Air Force and Pastor Vernon Welshans, will be conducted at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, February 4, 2021.
