Brian Lee Stephens

Brian was born on November 15, 1969, in Lansing, Michigan. He is survived by his spouse Wendy Stephens, his children Josh and Cassidy Stephens, son Zachary Stephens and his fiancé Cappella Santos-Brown and his daughter Sara Cloyed and her husband Robert Cloyed, parents Christine Stephens and David Stephens, his sister Denise Garza and husband Thomas Garza, brother James Combs, brother Edward Combs, brother Ronald Jenks, Jr. and wife Christy Jenks, brother Michael Stephens, sister Jacquie Urban and husband Jim Urban and sister Joni Stephens.

He is also survived by grandchildren Kaylee and Jameson Cloyed, Braxton Rice, Colton Cordero Stephens and Lawsynn and Desmond Cloyed who are scheduled to arrive in October 2022. He is survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family. Including, Chelsea Garza, Brittnay Garza, Alexea Combs, Lynsea Combs, Danielle Combs, James Combs Jr., Tyler Combs, Ashley Combs, Robert Combs, Jason Combs, Ronald Jenks, III., Chris Bowerman, Dakota Jenks, Samantha Stephens, Alex Stephens, Caitlin Urban and Nick Urban. Brian was predeceased by his birth father Ronald “Butch” Jenks. Grandparents (maternal) Edward and Elenora Sonnenberg, (paternal) Ben and Mildred Jenks. Brother Rob Jenks deceased (2009).

Brian joined the USAF on February 16,1988 and was trained as a nuclear weapons specialist. He took great pride in his military service, and he truly loved our country. Before leaving the military in 1992, he received training in commercial plumbing, hoping that it would be a skill he could translate back to civilian life, and it did. He worked over 30 years in commercial plumbing and pipefitting. He was a member of the Local 333 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union in Michigan and then the Local 142 Union chapter in Texas until his death.

Brian always talked about how he enjoyed his family trips with his parents and siblings, and how all of his family would come over to his house for deck parities. He had many fond memories about his best friend Dennis and his family and the days spent fishing when they should have been in school. He had always been very active in church and God, ever since he was little boy. He acted as an altar boy at his church and loved being a part of youth group and even talked about becoming a pastor early on. He was very active in the church throughout his life. Brian just loved life and was always down to have a

good time with his friends and family.

In 2017, Brian married Wendy. Combining their two households gave Brian another daughter and Wendy gained a daughter and two sons. Before long, they were blessed with four grandchildren who added just the right amount of fun, chaos and most importantly love and opportunities for making memories. Brian’s grandchildren called him Papa and they absolutely adored him. Being the tallest man in the room meant that Papa always had one or two little ones perched up high in his arms, getting a birds-eye view of the world. He was such a wonderful, loving grandfather to all of them.

Brian loved being outdoors. He especially loved family time spent at Medina Lake swimming, boating, barbecuing and flying his drone around to explore the hill country. If anyone needed help in the family, Brian was the first one to lend a hand. He was also a talented carpenter and enjoyed spending time on his wood working projects. His last project was building wooden train sets for his grandsons.

It is hard to accept the fact that Brian is gone. His kindness, sense of humor and most importantly his love of his family is the legacy that he leaves behind. We will miss him dearly and we will surely miss his smile. Brian, you will hold a special place in the heart of our family forever.

A visitation for Brian will be held Tuesday, August 16, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218. A celebration of life will occur Tuesday, August 16, 2022 from 7:00 PM to 7:30 PM, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX 78218. A graveside service with air force funeral honors will occur Thursday, August 18, 2022 from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
