Betty Z. Molina

Betty graduated from Memorial High School and during her senior year, she was awarded a full scholarship to West Point Military Academy, but the humble person she was, declined the opportunity. She loved her family too much to leave San Antonio.

Family was very important to Betty and she always said “Family comes first at any expense.” Her career began with banking as a bank teller and worked her way up to Branch Manager up until the time she was diagnosed with Leukemia on March 7, 1985. After Betty was in remission from Leukemia her battle with her health continued for 32 years with various illness. Betty never complained or showed any anger when she was faced with more hurdles, but challenged each one with the will and determination to win each battle and persevered during difficult times and always with her pretty smile.

Betty will be remembered by her huge smile, loving and giving heart, her optimistic outlook on life, her love of the going to Port Aransas every summer with family, shopping, word search games and spending time with Chico and their dog Diego. She also looked forward to each family gathering and making her famous Cheese Dip for her love ones. Betty was a very strong, brave and a Huge Fighter up to the very end. Unfortunately, this last battle with Cirrhosis of the liver and Chronic Kidney Disease was too overwhelming for another conquest.

At the age of 62 years, Betty was preceded in death by her father, Joe Zamora. Betty is survived by, and will be lovingly remembered by, her husband GySgt. Santiago (Chico) Molina, USMC, Retired, of 9 ½ years, her mother Alice Zamora and by her brothers Joe Zamora, Gilbert Zamora, sisters Mary Alice Soriano, and Debbie Kraft. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grandnephews, grandnieces, extended family and dear friends.
