Bettie Jean Goodwin Moffett, 82, died peacefully at home in Houston surrounded by family and friends on Valentine’s Day after a long illness. It was remembered that her life-long partner and husband, Tommy H. Moffett, died almost to the day 13 years earlier. Theirs was a unique and rewarding relationship that lasted almost 50 years. Bettie was the only child of Irene and Harold Goodwin. Bettie graduated from Corpus Christi High School and then matriculated from Baylor University where she met and fell in love with Tommy. She later furthered her education and mastered in education for children with special needs. She was instrumental in creating and implementing the LLD Program for the SAISD. Bettie was an avid and competitive bridge player who did not like to lose. She was an accomplished pianist and studied at Julliard. Bettie and Tommy proudly and generously raised two sons in San Antonio: Bobby and Donald (Donny). The Moffett family would like to thank her extraordinary caregivers: her great friend and nurse Randy Yarbrough; her very attentive friend Maribela; Nellie, Lettie and Arely (aka Sally); and very special thanks to her extraordinary nephrologist Dr. Donald Molony. She is survived by her son, Bobby and wife Patty; son, Donald and his partner Bob Gober; grandson, Luke; granddaughter Lindsay Parmer and husband Grant; and great-grandson, Evan Parmer. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 9:00am with a 10:00am Funeral service at Sunset Funeral Home, 1701 Austin Highway, San Antonio, TX. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
