She died quietly in her home Saturday, June 26, 2021. She was born July 13, 1935 in Hillsboro, ND to Carl & Clara Meyer. She married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Donald A. Weng in April of 1955. Donald survives her today. Her husband was in the Army which took them to several Military Posts in the U.S. & abroad. They had two daughters, Terri Denton of Oakland, FL and Kim Weng of San Antonio who died in 2012. She was blessed with Grandchildren: Jamie Denton of Louisville, KY and Christopher and Lisa Denton of Germantown. TN. Her Great Grandchildren are Piper June and Esten James Denton. Family was her pride and Joy.
Barbara retired from HEB where she worked for 16 years. Crown of Life Lutheran Church was the foundation of her life. She and Donald were Charter Members. She served in LWML as well as Stephen Ministries. As a gifted musician she played the piano and organ in several churches. A legacy of her life was as Co-founder to COIL (Center on Independent Living) and also as a Board member. COIL was begun by four sets of parents with disabled children growing into the organization it is today.
Barbara is survived by a sister Margaret Goshinska of Sun City, AZ and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, William and Harold Meyer of Hillsboro, ND; and sisters, Olivia Euren of Hillsboro, ND and Dolores Pritchett of Hastings, FL. Funeral to be held at Crown of Life Church (19291 Stone Oak Parkway) on July 7th 2021 at 10:30 with visitation at Sunset North (910 Loop 1604 East) July 6th from 3:00 to 7:00. Committal Services will be held at Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery, Shelter #3 July 12th at 9:30.
