Arlene Carle Rushing died peacefully Sunday, October 23, 2022 after her 95th birthday. Only daughter of the late Tina and Arthur Carle, a pioneer family who came from Alsace-Lorraine and settled near Castroville, Texas. She was born in San Antonio on October 14, 1927.
She was a 1945 graduate of Brackenridge High School. Member of St. John's Lutheran Church, an active member of the San Antonio Garden Club, Ioata Zetz Chi Sorority, long time volunteer at St. Lukes Hospital. She was married to Morris Rushing until his death 2014.
She was a loving, loyal and extremely devoted person who gave herself to everyone around her, especially children. Although she had no children of her own, she shared the love of many and did for them as if they where were her own. She loved having people over for dinner and cook and also enjoyed working in her flower garden. She loved all animals and carried dog and cat food in her car and fed many strays during her lifetime. She was employed just out of High School at the Federal Reserve Bank for 24 years and had several other part time jobs. She never went anywhere where she wasn't known by many. Like her father, she never met a stranger.
Arlene is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her cousin, Mary Louise Kollatschny.
