Angie A. Canales passed away peacefully in her home on December 29, 2021, surrounded by her family. Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas, where she would meet the love of her life, Armando A. Canales, the couple became a proud military family. The Green Beret, Special Forces lifestyle ultimately led them to live adventurously abroad.
Together as they traveled, Armando and Angie had three beautiful children. They were stationed in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina, Okinawa, Japan and Bad Tolz, Germany. Upon returning to the United States, the family moved to Kingsville, Texas where Armando taught ROTC. After retiring from a long and distinguished military career, they finally made their way home to San Antonio.
Angie had a knack for making any environment she was in beautiful, and she did so with grace and style. Her creativity knew no bounds, from her love of painting, to sewing, and one of her most treasured joys — antiquing. Through the years, Angie transformed her many households into warm homes, bringing her growing family into the fold with loving arms.
Her organizational skills, quick decision making, and pragmatic nature made her a natural for living life as a military wife. She not only “rolled with the punches,” but did so flawlessly and elegantly; always remaining calm under the pressure of constant change. Throughout her life she remained a loving and faithful wife, an encouraging and nurturing mother, a devoted sister and friend to all who knew her. She was loved by all and will be missed dearly.
Her legacy endures through the rich family life she built. She is survived by her brother, Dan Apolinar, children Frank Canales, Monica Drury; husband, Rob, Natalie Paterson; husband, Gentry, sisters-in-law Irene Canales, Elsie Canales, Delia Canales, Chris Canales, Rosario Canales and Delfina Estrada; husband Ed, grandchildren Matthew Rodriguez; fiancée, Sara Shadley, Alex Rodriguez; wife, Paige, Christine Canales, Eric Canales, great-grandchildren Makenzie and Carter Talamantez, Chandler and Sloan Rodriguez, and numerous nieces and nephews. Her family is comforted knowing that she is now with Jesus and her loving soulmate, Armando.
