He is preceded in death by his parents, Alan Joe Sr. and Mary Abernathy and wife, Patricia Abernathy.
He is survived by his wife, Olga Abernathy; children, Laura Abernathy, Beatriz Palacios (Jose) and Luis Garcia (Gloria); Lynda Garcia (Chris Calazada), Denys Garcia (Vance Mitchell) and Jose M. Garcia (Rhianna); grandchildren, Joanna Palacios, Orlando, Noah, Luis, Soledad, Maximus and King; aunt Sarah Long; and cousin, Lana Brown. Alan is also survived by his dogs, Allison and Winston; cat, Garfield and turtle, Shelly.
A visitation for Alan will be held Tuesday, October 18, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Trevino Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. A Chapel Service will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 9:30 AM with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
