Adalberto Barrera, age 73, of San Antonio, Texas passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2022. Adalberto was born in Kingsville, Texas on July 30, 1949, to Agustin and Juanita Barrera. He was the beloved husband of Rosalinda and loving father to Daniel Barrera and Veronica Gutierrez. He enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He especially cherished spending time and creating memories with them.
Adalberto was a Veteran who served in the United States Navy from 1970 to 1976. He received his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&I Corpus Christi in December 1974. He continued his education and graduated from Texas A&I University Corpus Christi with a Master of Arts degree in December 1976.
Adalberto was the Director of Richmond State Supported Living Center for 18 years. After 44 years of dedicated employment with the State of Texas, Adalberto retired in July 2018.
Adalberto was an amazing man who touched and inspired many. He was a compassionate, caring, and humble individual loved by all who knew him.
Adalberto is preceded in death by his parents: Agustin and Juanita Barrera, brother, Agustin Barrera III, nephews, Agustin, and Adriel Barrera.
Left behind to cherish his memories are his wife, Rosalinda Barrera, son, Daniel (Lyndsey) Barrera, daughter, Veronica Gutierrez, grandchildren, Ashlyn Barrera, Jakob Barrera, Analicia Perez, Demarco Perez, Aaliyah Gutierrez, Aryanna Gutierrez, Jordyn Barrera, and Zachary Barrera, great-grandchildren, Heather Diaz, Nova Perez, Haven Wedgeworth, sisters, Aurora Rojas, Adela (Henry) Faragosa, Brothers-in-law, Zaragoza (Laura) Soliz and Ricardo (Elsa) Soliz, Sister-in-law, Nelda Bernal and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Adalberto will be held Sunday, December 4, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 E., San Antonio, TX 78232, followed by a rosary service at 12:00 PM.
Adalberto will be laid to rest at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1502 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
