A.D. McCollum, age 96, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born on October 25, 1917 in Rantoul, Kansas to Quincy Ray & Ruth McCollum. A.D. was raised on a farm and later worked for the Studebaker Co. in Kansas City. A.D. joined the Army Air corps at the beginning of WW II and was sent to Randolph AFB in San Antonio, Texas. He was self-employed as an automobile and travel trailer dealer. A.D. loved to travel and spent many summers in Colorado.
He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Dorothy Mae McCollum, 2 sisters, and 1 brother. Survivors include his wife, Diana Mae McCollum; daughters, Diana Henderson and Pam Garrett & husband, Steve; son, Richard Schaefer; grandchildren, Tracy Henderson, Ashley Garrett, Brittney Garrett, Steven Garrett, and Alyssa Schaefer; and two great-grandsons, Chance Wade & Cody Mitchell Henderson; sister, Wilma Bean.
Funeral service will take place at 9:00 a.m. Friday, August 29, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Jorge Cuellar officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
