Pearl was born on July 18, 1943, in San Angelo, Texas to Silas and Luvenia Eldridge Sanchez, and attended school in San Angelo, graduating from San Angelo Central High School. Pearl loved to decorate and attended San Angelo College to study Interior Design and Decorating.
Pearl married Claude Lacy, Jr. on April 15, 1960.
Pearl was a member of several organizations, including the Silver Leaf Society Club, Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity, Blackshear Ex-Student Association, and Le Coterie Society. Pearl retired from Ethicon after 35 years to take care of her husband. She made many lifelong friends while working at Ethicon and after retirement attended many annual retirement functions.
Pearl was a lifelong member of Greater St. Paul AME Church.
Pearl was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her grandmother, “Momma Lou” who raised her; her sister, Shirley Ann Roberts, and her brothers, Dwight Sanchez, Bobby Van Sanchez, Raymond Sanchez and Marcellars Sanchez; her son-in-law Charlie Torres, and her best friend Margie Green.
She is survived by her children, Sharon Anderson (Don), Susan Torres, Cassandra Henry (Elwood); stepson Marvin Tyrone Green. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Kacey, Reginald Jr., Ashly, Shane, Sheldon and Olivia and eight great grandchildren.
Her memories will also be cherished and shared by Reginald Titus Sr., Yule Harris and Detra Green who she thought of as sons and a daughter; her sisters-in-law, Bonnie Willis, Billie Lacy, Joyce Sanchez; Deloris Sanchez, and brother-in-law Bobby Lacy, as well her numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends whom she loved deeply.
Pearl had several nicknames in her lifetime including “Mimi, Gmaw, and Boo.” Additionally, she had numerous “adopted” children who loved her and called her mom. Her love was truly shared abroad. She didn’t just say she loved you but showed you her love. No one ever left her home hungry or feeling unwelcome. She made you feel like a member of the family.
She traveled with her daughter Cassandra and her husband wherever the Air Force sent them and was able to see many parts of the world. She loved to travel and loved trips with her children and their kids to Six Flags, Sea World and Disneyworld. She loved a good “turkey leg”, and corn on the cobb from the carnival and amusement parks. She was happiest when she was with her family and friends.
Her bright light will truly be missed, but the joy she gave to others will never be forgotten.
