Visitation will be Thursday, November 21, 2013 from 5:00 to 7:00p.m. at Johnson’s Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 10:30 Friday, November 22, at Mertzon Cemetery. Pastor Bill Harris of St. Luke United Methodist Church will officiate.
Warren was born April 3, 1945, in San Angelo, Texas, to Janet and Jake Wardlaw. He graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 1963 and attended Texas Tech University. On October 15, 1965, he married Jane Ellis of San Angelo.
Warren was an avid outdoorsman and continued his involvement in the family ranches until his death. He was a Texas State Muzzle Loader Champion three years in a row and in 1965 he earned his pilot license.
Warren is survived by Jane, his wife of 48 years; three sons, Scott and his wife Ginger of San Angelo, Jonathan and his wife Courtney of Odessa, and Steven and his wife Michele of Mertzon; five grandchildren, Whitney, Carlee, Jacob, Hayley, and Abigail; two brothers, Steve and his wife Jane, H.R. Wardlaw III and his wife Anna, both of San Angelo; two nieces and three nephews; two sister-in-laws, Judy Whitney and Robin Sugg; and Sparky and Dusty, Warren’s four-legged friends. Warren was preceded in death by his parents Janet and Jake Wardlaw.
A heartfelt thanks to Dr. Tom Granaghan, Dr. Michael Blanc, Dr. John Stevenson, Dr. Archina Rao, Dr. Mark Davis and their staff at San Angelo Community Medical Center. A special thanks to Dr. Stewart Smith, Dr. Tim Hopkins, and Dr. Steve Boster and the wonderful nurses and staff of the acute stroke floor of Shannon Medical Center. The family greatly appreciates the blessed care given to Warren in his last days.
Friends and family are requested to wear casual, bright-colored clothing and lots of smiles as they share wonderful memories of Warren on Friday.
