Shirlie Ann Hallmark

Shirlie Ann Hallmark, age 87, passed peacefully from life on this earth into her heavenly home on July 27, 2023 at Shannon Medical Center, with her family at her side. She was born December 11, 1935 in San Angelo, TX and raised in Bronte, TX where she attended school. She worked at the City Café in Bronte, where she met and later married Roy D. Hallmark, and they raised five children together. Later, she married Clifford Hallmark, and they lived in Brownwood, Tx where she transferred from San Angelo Beall’s department store to Beall’s at the Early, Tx Mall, she enjoyed her work there. She served as President of the Volunteer’s organization at the Brownwood Regional Hospital and worked with them for several years. Shirlie was a very talented seamstress, sewing for friends, family and the public. She was a self-taught “Sewing machine mechanic”. She was also, a very Devout Christian and enjoyed transporting several elderly members to church regularly, she felt this was her mission for God. She enjoyed gardening, canning, baking and making cookbooks for the family. She enjoyed Bingo and puzzles while at the Bronte H&R Center.

She was preceded in death by parents: Rev. David M. West and Minnie B. West (Bronte, Tx); husbands: Roy D. Hallmark and Clifford Hallmark; Special friend: Gary Long; Son: Carmen B. Hallmark; Step-daughters: Carolyn Sides Pauree and Wanda S. Sides (Odessa, Tx); Step-son: R.D. Ayers (South Carolina); Grandson: Billy Tom Whittaker (Crane, Tx); Granddaughter: Desiree Whittaker (Odessa, Tx); Great-great-granddaughter: McKenna Moore (San Angelo, Tx).

She is survived by daughters: David Ann Knight (Ronnie), Judie English (Paul Wayne) and Bobo Steen (Doug) all of San Angelo; son: John Hallmark (Diane) of Magnolia, Tx; daughters-in-law: Alma F. Gordon of Santa Anna, Tx and Margie Ayers of Seabrook, SC; Step-daughters: Barbara Whittaker and Virginia Reid of Odessa, Tx; Grandchildren: Ronnie Knight Jr. (Sue) of Kaufman, Tx, Andy Knight (Brandy), Bobby “Bubba” Davis Jr. (Kim), Regina Steakley (Robert), Stephen Steen, Krysti Hallmark and Casey Steen all of San Angelo, Tx, Jennifer Wiese (Ben) of Carlsbad, Tx, Chad Hallmark (Amanda) of Houston, Tx, Toby Hallmark (Lisa) of Water Valley, Tx and Todd Hallmark of Carlsbad, Tx, Nicki Wilkins (Stan) and Alan Bradshaw (Melissa) of Odessa, Tx and Laurie Sims of Lubbock, Rhonda Ramsey (Bill) and Wanda Gallo (Richard) of Fredericksburg, Tx. and 42 Great-grandchildren and 4 Great-great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to express our sincerest appreciation for the care provided our mother by the All the Bronte Health and Rehab Center staff, ALL of Shannon 4North staff (Dr. Ojeda-Flores, Nurses, aides and Shelly Feathers Palliative care NP); All the HOSA Hospice staff. A visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 2023 at Johnson’s Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, July 31, 2023 in Fairview Cemetery in Bronte, TX.
