Paulette Ann Hill passed this plane of existence On July 16th, year of our Lord 2023 at or about 11:35 pm. She left peacefully as she held the hand of her son as he spoke to her. God seen fit to gather her home after months of discomfort and pain.
Paulette Ann Helmkamp was Born on April 24, 1950 to Carl W. and Mildred C. (Wenck) Helmkamp in Lake City, Iowa. She is preceded in death by both her mother and father as well as two infant brothers James and Richard.
She is survived by four brothers and one sister: Don Helmkamp of Royal Iowa, John Helmkamp of Ankeny, Iowa, Stan Helmkamp of Broomfield, Colorado, Janet King of Napa, California, and Jeff Helmkamp of Carroll, Iowa. She is further survived by her husband Joe Hill of Christoval Texas, five sons, Shawn Hill and family of Early Texas, Brandon Hill and family of Monahans Texas, Kirk Hill and family of Whitehouse Texas, Christopher Hill of Big Springs Texas, and Cory Hill of Christoval, Texas. There are six grandsons, Bailey, Joshua, Riley, Jeffrey, Braylan, and Matthew.
Paulette was always about family. She loved the holidays with her favorites being Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter, all involving family participation. She worked very hard and tirelessly to make each event memorable; they were!! -- She would leave nothing to chance!
Friends were so important to her. She had a group of friends while growing up that she never lost contact with. She / We have developed friends over the years of marriage that we have stayed close to. As much as she was concerned, they also became a part of the family, and still are. Brothers and Sisters in Christ are extremely important to her, especially here at West Angelo Church of Christ. The love and care, shown one to another, attest to our affection and the unbounded love we share through Christ Jesus.
Do you ever realize how God has a way of working things out for His Glory through His Children? For example He took this pretty farm girl from Iowa, married her to this farm kid from Texas and with the first birth a set of triplets and the second set of twins. (Notice there wasn’t a third birth!) Who, in their right mind, was going to raise them as a single parent? We had to stick together! Oh and paying for child care!! So it appears that God had designed a life for her, as a child care provider, mother to her own five and mother to so many others for some 38 years. (just retiring last year.)
This has created a whole new set of family and friends. One of her first daycare children still calls her mom at the age of 47. Many still stay in touch through social media programs, and various kinds of communications strategies. Things she had to learned the hard way, gave her the ability to relay these tactics to new parents, helping them to sidestep some of the pitfalls that she had to endure. This was her passion! This came to be her dream and happiness! Godly upbringings to all the children that came into her care.
Sometimes we wonder what God has set up for us in this life, as our calling. Then one day, it ‘dawns on us,’ we are already doing it. Praise God! In good times, and in bad times, Praise God!
Any people who had the opportunity to know Paulette, will remember her and the impact she had on us all. As long as we live with the memory of Paulette, she continues to live in us, as we believe Christ lived in her.
May God Bless you all!
