Odelia “Prieta” Dietz was called home by Jesus on March 14, 2022, at the age of 78. Odelia was born to Jose and Trinidad Sosa on July 30, 1943, in San Angelo, Texas. She was raised in Sweetwater, Texas by her grandparents. She moved back to San Angelo around the age of 16, after her grandmother's passing. Her cousin, Angelita, fondly remembers Odelia holding her grandmother’s slippers to her heart, not wanting to leave. On April 7, 1961, Odelia married Fred Dietz the love of her life and they shared sixty years together. They went on to have three children, Sandra, Freddy, and Lorraine. She was also “Nana” to 8 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. In addition to being a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother, Odelia was a hair stylist for decades and owned and operated Odelia’s Beauty Salon in her home. Her clients would ultimately become some of her lifelong friends. Odelia faced many health challenges throughout her life, but it never stopped her from living life to the fullest. She enjoyed going to casinos, fishing, scratching lottery tickets, dancing, and spending time with family and friends. Her children were blessed to have a faithful, supportive, prayerful, strong, fun-loving mom. Although she was only able to complete an 8th grade education, she instilled the value of learning to her family. She was smart, creative, artistic, and taught many life lessons. Her grace and dignity, in the most difficult times of her life, displayed her faith in her Lord and Savior. Odelia joins her parents, Jose and Trinidad; her husband, Fred Dietz Sr; her son, Fred Dietz Jr; her sister, Josephina Sosa; her brothers Arthur Sosa Sr, and Joe Sosa. She is survived by her daughters Sandra Lomas and Jake, Lorraine Campos and Steve; sisters Irene Deleon, Manuela Gatica, Alice Jasso; and brothers Richard Sosa, and Rudy Sosa. She is also survived by her 8 grandchildren Fred Dietz III and Laure, Kyrstan Dietz, Jake Lorenzo Lomas and Natalie, Burgandi Murphy and Law, Emily Campos, Olivia Campos, Julius Campos and Julian Campos; and 8 great grandchildren. Odelia possessed an unbelievable contagious quick wit and charm that would light up any room she entered. Pallbearers will be Steve Campos, Julius Campos, Fred Dietz III, Jimmy Sosa, Joey Sosa, and Albert Garcia. Visitation will be from 8:00 AM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 17, 2022.
